We have very limited room in our kitchen so when we first decided to give Bob a home we had to re-consider where we would feed the cats. I came up with the idea to knock through under the stairs and give them a little compartment each, Flick won't eat if she can see another cat so this was the only real solution. Everyone thought I was a little crazy at first, now that it has been done everyone agrees that it was a great idea, I'm not one to say I told you so, but...
We started with this, a large sectioned off under the stairs area, a huge portion of which was too low to get to and therefore redundant space.
We're quite lucky as we know handy people, and in fairness to Spencer he did a lot of the work too. In a nutshell we knocked a plasterboard wall out, put some more plasterboard walls in, extended the wooden floor and built a shelving unit with drawers. We had excess flooring leftover from the kitchen so slid a piece of that into each hole as it wipes clean easily and protects our nice wooden floor. We used leftover wallpaper from the bedroom makeover to finish it off. I say we, I didn't actually do the work, just project managed!
The drawers house the cats food, litter, flea and worming tablets. We also still have plenty of storage on the other side of the new wall.
I've since added a photo of each of cats in the order of the bowls for when the in-laws feed them while we're on holiday.
Have I taken crazy cat lady to a whole new extreme?
